Places to see within 1 hour from Panamint Springs Resort
Darwin Falls
Travel time is about 15 minutes one way. Drive 3/4 mile west on Highway 190. Turn left onto the signed dirt road and travel 2.5 miles to the parking area. This wondrous canyon is the source of our water supply.
Father Crowley Vista
Travel time is about 15 minutes one way. Drive 7 miles west on Highway 190. Look for the parking area on the right hand side of the road.
Panamint Valley Playa
This dry lake bed is extremely flat and other-wordly. Travel time is about 5 minutes one way. Drive 4-5 miles east on Highway 190. Park your vehicle on either side of the road.
Mosaic Canyon
Travel time is about 45 minutes one way. Drive 31 miles east on Highway 190. Turn right on the signed dirt road and travel for 2 miles to the parking area.
Mesquite Flat Dunes
Travel time is about 45 minutes one way. Drive 33 miles east on Highway 190. The parking area is on the left hand side of the road. The best times to photograph the dunes are early morning and early evening.
A Popular Scenic Loop:
Wildrose/Emigrant Loop Travel time round trip is about 2 hours. Please factor in plenty of additional time for stops and diversions. Drive east on Highway 190 for 3 miles and turn right onto Panamint Valley Road. Drive 14 miles to Trona-Wildrose Road and turn left. Drive 9.7 miles to Emigrant Canyon Road.
Make a right at the fork to visit the charcoal kilns or access the Wildrose Peak trail (drive 9 miles one way).
Turn left at the fork onto Emigrant Canyon Road. This 21 mile road provides access to a couple of interesting side trips. Aguereberry Point (6.3 miles one way) is our favoriteDeath Valley overlook. If you venture out to Skidoo (7.1 miles one way) see if you can find the abandoned mine works at the end of the road.
At the end of Emigrant Canyon Road turn left onto Highway 190. Drive 22 miles west to Panamint Springs Resort.
Famous Attractions in Death Valley Route:
To Badwater and Back Travel time is about 1 hour and 40 minutes one way with no stops. Count on an additional 2 hours if you would like to stop at several of these places and more if you plan to hike. Drive east on Highway 190. Badwater is about 75 miles from Panamint Springs Resort.
